Business Opportunities inherent in Integrating Climate Action into Poverty Reduction Initiatives

January 20, 2022 @ 11:00 am 12:30 pm

Highlighting business opportunities in challenges associated with integrating climate action into poverty reduction initiatives.

Most recent estimates showed that in 2015, 10 percent of the world’s population or 734 million people lived on less than $1.90 a day. (United Nations). Climate change is a serious risk to poverty reduction and threatens to undo decades of development efforts — It will increasingly affect the poor. Adaptation is necessary, and there is a need to integrate responses to climate change and adaptation measures into strategies for poverty reduction to ensure sustainable development.(OECD). We also have to note that where there are challenges, business opportunities exist.

This webinar discusses SDG 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere combined with SDG 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. It is part of a webinar series that aims to promote global sustainability ideas, secondarily, a platform to encourage cleantech/ sustainability organizations and showcase what they do, and thirdly, an avenue to connect international businesses to green opportunities in Africa.
