Harnessing the Blue Economy

July 21, 2022 @ 11:00 am 12:30 pm

We will be discussing SDG 14 – Live Below Water: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

The topic of the webinar is Harnessing the Blue Economy. What is blue economy? Blue Economy refers to the sustainable use of the ocean’s resources or the sustainable management of ocean economies. It goes beyond viewing the ocean economy solely as a mechanism for economic growth. It considers social inclusion and the preservation of livelihoods while at the same time ensuring the environmental sustainability of the oceans and coastal areas. It is an emerging concept that encourages better stewardship of our ocean or ‘blue’ resources. (culled from https://environbuzz.com/blue-economy/). It is aligns with SDG 14.
