Moving to a circular economy will require a new way of thinking aimed at resource conservation. Currently, organizations determine financial success based on the GDP model, which is linear and wasteful. Speaker: Choudhury Rudra Charan Mohanty, Environment Programme Coordinator,
United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD)- DSDG/UN DESA

Choudhury Rudra Chran Mohanty is currently leading the global networking for EST, 3R, and IPLA projects as an Environment Programme Coordinator/Expert. Prior to joining UNCRD in April 2003, he worked in the United Nations Environment Programme/Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP/RRC. AP), Thailand, for ten years (1993-2003) as a Senior Programme Officer/Head of Environment Assessment and Reporting. He also worked as an engineer in the area of land and water resources development for the Command Area Development Authority/Ministry of Water Resources in the State Government of Orissa, India (1988-1991). He obtained his bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Agricultural Engineering and Technology from the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, India, and master’s degree in Water Engineering and Management from the School of Civil Engineering/Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.
