Obie Agusiegbe, MSc, EP
Obie has over 18 years’ experience spanning different sectors including oil and gas, manufacturing, government, non- profit, pharmaceutical and consulting in Canada and overseas. She is a Certified Environmental Professional under ECO Canada with an Environmental Manager designation. Her competences include Environmental Assessment, Waste Management, Energy Management, Environmental Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, Sustainability Reporting, Training and Workshop Facilitation, Health and Safety, Community Outreach and Development, Project and Program Development and Implementation, Research and Business Analysis
In addition to holding a Master’s degree in Clean Technology from the University of Newcastle, United Kingdom, she has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management from the University of Toronto and a Certificate in Adult Education/Training and Development from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, Canada. She is part of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Community and has a GRI Standard Exam Certificate of Achievement.
A Sustainability Advocate: She successfully runs a Sustainability blog – EnvironBuzz (www.environfocus.com/environbuzz) and has organized and implemented numerous events, programs and projects nationally and internationally with the goal to transfer knowledge of environmental and social issues and their possible solutions between the North and South.
An avid volunteer: She has been on the board of various non-profits organizations including Rotary Club of Mississauga- Airport (Executive Secretary) and Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (Treasurer). She is on the board of Sustainable Waste Recycling Community of Nigeria (President) and a mentor under the Sustainability Mentorship Program implemented by the Sustainable Engineers Association, University of Toronto. She is an Advisor with Startup Canada, Toronto Ontario. She is on the Export Development Canada and on the Business Development Canada Review Panels. She is a member of the Ontario Environmental Industry Association in Canada and a Member of the Canadian Africa Chamber of Commerce.
Srimanta Mohanty, PhD
Srimanta has over 20 years of experience in research and project management in Canada, Asia and Africa (e.g. Ontario Public Health, Rotary, UN Migration Agency – IOM Sudan, WHO Fellow – China, Anhui University, Canadian Universities & Non-Profits, etc.). Srimanta is professor at Sheridan, an adjunct professor at York University’s School of Social Work, the CEO at the Social Planning Council of Peel, a Field Supervisor for graduate students in several Canadian universities, the past president of the Rotary Club and a member of various associations. Srimanta has published one book (a comparative analysis of the gender inequality in India and China) and implemented more than 160 community research projects over 10 years. In addition to his doctoral degree, Srimanta holds a M.A. from the University of Western Ontario (Canada), a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University (Canada), a Master of Law in Population Sciences from Beijing University (China), a Master of Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences (India), and a M.A. in Statistics from Utkal University (India).
